In the US, Dr. Lalit Choksi received his early training in General Surgery at Little Company of Mary Hospital of Chicago and thereafter he trained at the prestigious Roswell Park Memorial Hospital in Buffalo, New York, a center associated with the development of pioneering techniques in surgical oncology. Dr. Choksi also worked as a staff member of the same institute in the capacity of Attending Surgeon in the Breast Cancer Division.
In Peoria, Illinois Dr. Choksi blended his academic interest with surgical practice when he taught surgery as Assistant Professor at Peoria School of Medicine of the University of Illinois. He also served as Attending Surgeon of Surgical Oncology at St. Francis Hospital, Methodist Hospital and
Proctor Hospital.
Moved by a vision to share his vast experience of working at premier centers of surgical oncology in the US and a desire to contribute to the medical field in India, he subsequently joined Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute (GCRI), Ahmedabad as an Associate Professor and Head of Surgical Unit 2, until he shifted his focus to full-time private practice in 1995. During his tenure at the GCRI, Dr. Choksi trained a number of practicing surgical oncologists and introduced many new and innovative surgical techniques.
Today, Dr. Choksi serves as the Founding President of Gujarat State Head and Neck Organisation (G-SHNO). Given his vast clinical experience and deep knowledge of surgical oncology, Dr. Lalit B. Choksi is an invaluable source for evidence based clinical and surgical interventions.
